The Role of Government Policies in Promoting Electric Vehicle Adoption: A Global Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
The widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is a critical component in the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. Government policies play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric mobility. the various policy instruments employed by governments worldwide to promote EV adoption, including financial incentives, regulatory frameworks, infrastructure development, and public awareness campaigns. case studies from leading EV markets such as Norway, China, and the United States, the paper highlights the effectiveness of different policy approaches in overcoming barriers to EV adoption, such as high upfront costs, limited charging infrastructure, and consumer hesitancy. The socio-economic and environmental impacts of these policies, offering insights into best practices for other countries seeking to enhance their EV adoption strategies. a combination of targeted subsidies, investment in charging infrastructure, and stringent emissions regulations can significantly accelerate the shift towards electric mobility, contributing to a more sustainable transportation future.
